What is a Cruelty-Free Skin Care Product?
So you heard a new term "Cruelty-Free" and decided to google it, sorry to break to you but it's NOT actually new, it has been thrown around by companies and beauty bloggers for few decades at least.
If you are just looking for a definition then it can just be defined as a product and it's ingredients that were not tested on animals.
Only if world could be that simpler, in reality you will find many companies, provided if you look close enough, which claim that they do not do animal testing. Did you notice something? They said "they do not do animal testing" but it does not mean their products are not tested on animals. What they actually do is that they outsource their testing to some other company which is ready to do animal testing.
When the term "Cruelty-Free" was originally coined, it was not only about the animal testing but it was more about alternative products which had nothing to do with animals whatsoever and such products are being called "Vegan" skin care products now a days.
To confuse the matter further, vegan and cruelty-free products aren't guaranteed to be 100% safe, green and natural. And next time when you see that cute bunny photo on a product do not just assume it is not tested on animal as more often the evil is in the detail. So you need to be bit careful when buying your next "Cruelty-Free" and "Vegan" product, make sure you read that label carefully!
